Inp.polri.go.id - Garut.   Indonesian Army Chief of Staff, General Maruli Simanjuntak, said the Army has restructured its soldier housing loan, known as  KPR, payment system, managed by the Mandatory Housing Savings Agency, to ease the financial burden on troops.

The change follows public criticism after soldiers were charged Rp 2.5 million per month for homes that were never completed.

“We need to evaluate and keep improving so it will be better,” he said on Tuesday (12/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The Army has identified 4,000 soldiers reportedly facing such deductions.

Under the new scheme, soldiers’ savings will be converted into down payments, with interest capped at 5%. Monthly installments will drop to Rp 1.2 million for a Rp 180 million home and Rp 1 million for a Rp 168 million subsidized home.

General Maruli vowed to investigate reports of soldiers taking home as little as Rp 150,000 monthly, stressing that the new system aims to ensure fairness and protect soldiers’ welfare.
