Bali Immigration Introduces Rp 1 million Daily Fine for Overstaying Foreigners

The Bali Immigration Office has introduced a fine of Rp 1 million per day for foreigners whose permits to stay in Indonesia have expired and who are still in the country for less than 60 days. "Don't let foreigners enter and stay in Indonesia illegally," said Romi Yudianto, the Head of the Bali Immigration Office o on Thursday (4/1/2024). Foreigners who are unable to pay the fine face deportation and will be added to the list of people banned from entering Indonesian territory, antaranews.com reported. On the other hand, foreigners whose stay permit has expired and who remain in Indonesia for more than 60 days will also be deported and placed on the list of persons denied entry. Deported foreigners will have a deportation stamp on their passports. However, foreigners who have overstayed for less than 60 days and can pay the daily fine will not have a deportation stamp on their passports. These deportation provisions are outlined in Article 78 of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration. The amount of the Rp 1 million daily fine is specified in Government Regulation No. 28 of 2019 on the Types and Rates of Non-Fiscal State Revenues (PNBP) applicable in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
