inp.polri.go.id - Pangkal Pinang. The Babel Regional Police held a Joint Call for Task Force Disaster Anticipation and SAR/Evacuation Equipment in Overcoming Natural Disasters in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, which took place at the Babel Governor's Office Courtyard, Tuesday (12/07/21).
Babel Regional Police Chief, Pol. Inspector-General Yan Sultra Indrajaya said readiness to face all kinds of disasters is critical, considering that Indonesia is prone to disasters, including Bangka Belitung. Because the islands in Indonesia are formed from the world's tectonic plates, the Australian plate, and the Pacific plate, this condition causes Indonesia to become one of the countries with a high potential for earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and landslides, and others.
Therefore, all elements of society must be prepared to face these problems. This Apel is one of the efforts of the Provincial Government of the Bangka Belitung Islands to prepare for the disaster in question. "This is one of our tips in dealing with natural disasters in particular, especially now that the rainy season is starting, for that we must be ready," explained the Regional Police Chief.
Pol. Inspector-General Yan Sultra Indrajaya also asked that disaster-prone areas in each district/city provide posts so that the officers who handle it are ready if a disaster occurs.
Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Abdul Fatah, who was also present at the event, expressed his appreciation for implementing this disaster anticipation activity in the hope that disaster management could be better.
"With this activity, we are better prepared, what should we do to deal with this disaster, among them, we form a disaster emergency post. Therefore all agencies must be involved, both within the provincial government. Therefore, Bangka Belitung, as well as in the external ranks of the Bangka Belitung Provincial Government, together with the National Armed Forces and National Police, National Search and Rescue Agency, and other elements of society are combined in the command post," explained the Deputy Governor.
"Deputy Governor Abdul Fatah added that the disasters that often occur in Babylon are floods, followed by tidal flooding, due to rising tides in coastal areas. If that happens, then our society must be protected. Therefore we must prepare for disaster," he said.
