inp.polri.go.id - Serang. The Banten Regional Police's Sub-Directorate IV of the Criminal Investigation Directorate has successfully uncovered a suspected case of human trafficking (TPPO) involving the recruitment and offering of commercial sex workers (CSWs) through an online application.

The case was uncovered on Monday (2/26/2026) at around 1:00 a.m. at a boarding house called Kost Inang, located in Kramatwatu District, Serang Regency.

The Head of Sub-Directorate IV of the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Banten Regional Police, Superintendent Irene Missy, explained that the disclosure began with information from the public reporting the recruitment, harboring, and offering of several women to serve perverted men.

The perpetrators allegedly recruited and harbored the victims and offered them to customers through the MiChat application for personal gain.

"The perpetrators' method was to recruit, harbor, and offer the victims to customers through the MiChat application. Investigations revealed that the victims were promised salaries ranging from IDR 9 million to IDR 10 million per month," said Irene on Friday (2/27/2026).

Based on the findings, he said, officers arrested two suspected perpetrators: a man with the initials AB (27) and a woman with the initials FT (26). Investigators also identified three women as victims who were recruited and placed at the location.

During this investigation, investigators also secured several pieces of evidence, including a cellphone belonging to the perpetrator, IDR 9,850,000 in cash, six boxes of contraceptives, a lubricant, and screenshots of conversations related to the activity.

Irene added that her team is currently conducting intensive questioning of the perpetrators and victims to further explore the network and the possibility of other victims.

"Currently, the perpetrators and victims are still being questioned. We will continue our investigation to uncover the possibility of other networks and ensure the protection of the victims," she said.

The Banten Regional Police urge the public to actively report any suspected human trafficking or other forms of exploitation. Investigators are currently developing the case and will release further developments to the public.
