Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has deployed additional personnel to support exhausted teams who have been responding to disasters across Sumatra for eight consecutive days.
“Rotation is essential because fatigue must be managed to keep our rescuers safe,” Basarnas Deputy for Operations and Preparedness Edy Prakoso said on Tuesday (2/12/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Basarnas has dispatched 43 SAR volunteers and 21 rescuers from Jakarta, Bandung, and Banten to reinforce ongoing operations.
More than 6,000 SAR personnel are currently engaged in emergency response across Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, where major disasters have struck since 25 November. The additional teams will provide logistics support and reach previously inaccessible areas.
