inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) strongly condemned Israel's actions in attacking Iran's military areas and facilities as it not only violates a country's sovereignty, but also has the potential to trigger an escalation of regional conflict.
Chairman of the BKSAP, Mardani Ali Sera, emphasized that unilateral military action carried out by Israel is bad for efforts to maintain global peace and stability.
"The attack on Iran's sovereign territory is a provocative and very risky act. This situation must not be allowed to continue to develop without control," said Mardani in a statement quoted by Antaranews in Jakarta, Sunday (6/15/2025),.
On that basis, BKSAP called on the United Nations to immediately intervene and take concrete steps to prevent the situation from worsening.
According to him, preventive and diplomatic actions are needed to ensure that tensions between Israel and Iran do not develop into an open conflict that could involve more countries.
Mardani also reminded that respect for international law and the UN Charter is the main foundation for creating world peace.
"Therefore, any violation of these principles must be dealt with firmly by the international community," he added.
All parties need to exercise restraint and avoid escalatory measures. Instead of provocation, de-escalation is what is needed in a global situation with various humanitarian crises and geopolitical tensions
Through the BKSAP DPR RI, Indonesia continues to affirm its commitment to the principle of peaceful conflict resolution and upholding international law.
Another movement that has been carried out is encouraging world parliaments to speak out and take the initiative to encourage a peaceful resolution, including through parliamentary diplomacy.
"In a situation full of escalating tension like this, the voice of parliament as a representation of the world's people is important to suppress parties who tend to use military force unilaterally," said Mardani.
