inp.polri.go.id – To prevent the spread of mouth and nail disease (FMD) outbreaks, the cooperation between the Armed National Forces and the personnel of the Central Lampung Police continue to help the people in efforts to prevent FMD by vaccination in Kalirejo District, Central Lampung Regency, Sunday, (7/31).
The Central Lampung Police Chief, AKBP Doffie Fahlevi Sanjaya, ordered his personnel to always monitors and assist the efforts in handling the outbreaks of FMD by coordinating with the related institutions, including Department of Livestock, Plantation & Fisheries of Central Lampung Regency.
In response to the order of Central Lampung Police Chief, the Police Chief of Kalirejo, Iptu Junaidi, went directly with his personnel and the Armed National Forces to monitor the FMD vaccinations to the livestock in Kalirejo.
He stated that the vaccinations is part of an efforts to prevent the outbreak of FMD in Kalirejo.
If the animal is mildly infected by the FMD, usually they would show some symptoms such as mild blisters on the nail gaps, lethargy, having no appetite, and drooling more than usual.
Meanwhile to those who severely infected by FMD would have severe symptoms, such as blisters on the nails that fall off, limp, unable to walk, and malnutrition.
"We will continue to carry out door-to-door patrols to the farmers to socialize about the FMD outbreak and ensure whether there are symptoms in their livestock so that we could treat it immediately,” he said in his closing statement.
