inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Coordinating Minister of Economy Airlangga Hartarto says Indonesia is the country with the second highest digital investment in the Southeast Asia region in 2023.

He says that investment in the digital economy sector in Indonesia has reached 22 billion USD in 2023. Although still far behind Singapore with the investment value of 141 billion USD, Indonesia has surpassed Vietnam and Malaysia with the investment value of 18 billion USD and 17 billion USD respectively.

“For digital investment destinations, we were ranked second with a total investment value of 22 billion USD, behind Singapore,” says Minister Airlangga on Thursday (8/1/2024).

Airlangga explains that the achievement was thanks to the government effort in expanding digitalization of payment systems. Indonesian competitiveness also goes 11 ranked higher to 45 in 2023 from the previous 56 in 2019.

During his presentation, Airlangga explains the positive trends of digital technology adoption in ASEAN in 2022 has pushed the ASEAN digital economy value to 194 billion USD with 40% of it coming from Indonesia.

Furthermore, there are several factors that have become the driving force for the ASEAN digital market. First, there were 460 million internet users in ASEAN in 2022.

Second, more than 90 percent rural residents have become the beneficiaries of digital services, And lastly, the venture capital investment value in ASEAN has reached 13 billion USD in the first semester of 2023.
