The Coordinating Minister of Indonesian Economic Sector, Airlangga Hartarto states that the 2024 Food Aid to 22 million Food Aid Recipients is aimed to sustain the people's purchasing power from the direct impact of rising food prices. “The distribution of Direct Cash Assistance (BLT) for the Food Risk Mitigation, which is a continuation of the El Nino BLT to 18.8 million Beneficiary Families (KPM). It is hoped that the aid could preserve people’s purchasing power,” said Airlangga Hartarto quoted from Antaranews on Friday (2/2/2024). Furthermore, Airlangga states that by preserving people’s purchasing power, the economic growth could be sustained. Meanwhile, the Coordinating Miniser reveals that the second highest regional economic growth on the third quarter of 2023 is in Sulawesi with 6.44% per year on year, with the contribution growth to national economic is 7.25%. “The South Sulawesi could grow 4.05% supported by the mining and quarrying and export sectors," he said. Moreover, he says that the national inflation of 2023 was at 2.61% and has been the lowest inflation for the last two decades outside the Covid-19 pandemic. “We hope that in the future, the inflation could be supressed, however what is important is improving our economic growth,” said Airlangga. In his closing statement, he hopes that South Sulawesi could continue to be the biggest economic contributor in Sulawesi and continue to develop high-value sectors. (ad/fa/pr/nm)
