inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized Indonesia's commitment to supporting the Palestinian struggle, including through involvement in efforts to reconstruct Palestinian culture.
Indonesia, Fadli Zon stated, views culture as a crucial element in maintaining the identity, sustainability, and dignity of a nation.
Indonesia is also exploring the establishment of a Palestinian Struggle Museum at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) as an educational space that introduces the richness of Palestinian culture, both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, while documenting the Palestinian people's struggle to maintain their identity and fight for independence.
"We want the Indonesian people to know Palestine not only through the conflict, but also through its civilization, art, traditions, and cultural heritage. This museum is expected to be a symbol of Indonesia's friendship and solidarity with Palestine," said Fadli Zon during a meeting with Palestinian Minister of Culture Emad Al-Din Hamdan on Thursday (7/16/2026).
Through this meeting, the two ministers agreed to follow up on the meeting's outcomes as a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding signed by the two ministers in September 2025 as a basis for developing cultural collaboration between Indonesia and Palestine.
Minister Al-Din Hamdan expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's support for Palestine and proposed the establishment of an Indonesia-Palestine cultural center in Jerusalem as a creative space for the Palestinian community in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
In response, Fadli Zon welcomed the planned cooperation and opened up opportunities for collaboration in various fields, including joint film productions, art exhibitions, and the translation of Palestinian literary works into Indonesian.
"Indonesia is ready to open up opportunities for cultural cooperation with Palestine, including through film collaboration, literary translation, and various other cultural programs. Through culture, people can learn about each other's history, identity, and the values championed by a nation," explained Fadli Zon.
He said he would study the proposals submitted by Palestine as a basis for determining possible forms of participation and cooperation.
"We welcome the idea of establishing a Cultural Center and will explore various opportunities for collaboration to provide tangible benefits for the preservation of Palestinian culture," conclude Fadli Zon.
