Inp.polri.go.id - Banyuwangi. The death toll from the sinking of ferry KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya in the Bali Strait has risen to eight people, while 27 passengers remain missing, authorities confirmed Monday evening (7/7/2025).
“As of today, 30 passengers have been rescued, 8 have been confirmed dead, and 27 are still missing,” said the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Deputy for Search and Rescue Operations and Preparedness, Ribut Eko Suyanto, during a press conference at Ketapang Port, Banyuwangi, East Java, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team from East Java Regional Police has identified two male victims found on Sunday. One victim, identified as Daniar Nadief (21), was found by a local fisherman in the southern part of the Bali Strait.
Earlier on Monday, another victim was identified as I Kadek Oka (51). His body was recovered by SAR teams about 6 nautical miles south of the sinking site.
Both bodies were handed over to their families at Blambangan Regional Hospital in Banyuwangi.
The Joint SAR Command Post continues its search for the remaining missing passengers, focusing on surface searches south of the incident site. Aerial support has also been deployed to aid the operation.
