Inp.polri.go.id - Manokwari.  The West Papua Regional Police destroyed a total of 1,600 rounds of illegal ammunition and one long-barreled firearm belonging to two suspects identified by initials ES and AP, on Monday (7/7/ 2025).

The destruction was overseen by the Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Novia Jaya, and witnessed by public prosecutors and the suspects' legal counsel.

“In addition to ammunition, a long-barreled firearm owned by suspect AP was also destroyed,” he confirmed, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The suspects were arrested in March 2025 for their involvement in an illegal arms trade network supplying firearms to armed criminal groups (KKB).

The investigation was a joint effort involving the Papua Police, West Papua Regional Police, and East Java Regional Police, which began after suspect ES was arrested.

“Suspect ES had a bunker used to store ammunition and firearms sold to KKB,” Chief Novia added.

The disposal process included separating bullets and casings, burning gunpowder using special equipment, and sawing the weapon into pieces.
