"After checking with the Minister of Public Works regarding the breached dam, we anticipate it will be sealed by tonight or tomorrow," he said on Thursday evening (21/3/2024). President Jokowi stressed that the breach had caused significant water overflow, leading to local flooding, as reported by antaranews.com. President Jokowi noted that this was the second dam breach, following the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing's repair of the initial breach. He said that repair efforts were carried out round the clock to repair the second dam breach. "The rainfall intensity was exceptionally high," President Jokowi added. He praised the swift response of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and other agencies in aiding the approximately 24,436 evacuated residents of Demak.
