Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chair of Indonesia’s National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, addressed the ban on Apple’s iPhone 16 sales in Indonesia, emphasizing the country's openness to new job creation opportunities. 

“We’re open to anything, especially if it’s produced domestically, as we aim to create jobs,” he said on Tuesday (5/11/2024).

Luhut highlighted that Indonesia’s focus is not only on high-tech industries but also on labor-intensive sectors, referencing garment production and construction projects in Kertajati and near Solo.

Minister of Trade  Budi Santoso has earlier warned that e-commerce platforms could face penalties for selling the iPhone 16 and Google Pixel without government approval. 

The Trade Ministry has banned online platforms from selling both iPhone 16 and Google Pixel devices, citing unapproved sales.
