Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan has expected a presidential amnesty after being named a suspect in a corruption case involving safety certification at the Ministry of Manpower.
“Hopefully I will receive amnesty from President Prabowo,” he told reporters before entering a detention vehicle at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (22/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The KPK has charged Deputy Minister Immanuel Ebenezer along with 10 others over alleged extortion in the processing of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) certificates. He has been detained for an initial 20-day period pending further investigation.
During his appearance at a press conference, the deputy minister broke down in tears but later smiled, gave a thumbs-up gesture, and raised his cuffed hands to the media. Immanuel also apologized to President Prabowo, denying he was framed.
KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the arrests and said investigators seized dozens of vehicles and sealed key ministry offices.
