Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa urged state-owned banks to exercise caution in distributing Rp 200 trillion ($13 billion) in government funds to avoid non-performing loans (NPLs).

“Banks should be smart. If they lend carelessly and it becomes NPL, they should be dismissed,” he said at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (16/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

The funds, allocated to five major state-owned banks, namely BRI, BNI, Bank Mandiri, BTN, and BSI,  aim to strengthen national banking liquidity. Each bank has a different ceiling, ranging from Rp 10 trillion to Rp 55 trillion. Monthly reporting to the Ministry of Finance is mandatory.

Minister Purbaya clarified that there is no specific guidance for Himbara banks in disbursing the funds.

“They are free to use it as they wish. Guidance is just a list of projects if they need ideas,” he said.

The funds should be used for projects aligned with President Prabowo Subianto’s priorities, and not invested in government securities or other financial instruments.
