Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Two of the three firearms seized from Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Oksibil, Bintang Mountains Regency in Papua have been identified as belonging to the Indonesian Military, a senior official said on Sunday (1/10/2023)
Superintendent Bayu Suseno, the Head of Public Relations Unit of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, disclosed that the two Indonesian Military-owned weapons were a long-barreled SS2 V3_K1 rifle with serial number 93.004236 and a Browning FN pistol with serial number OT6117.
These weapons were in the possession of Task Force 725/Varoagi personnel, who had an accident during a flight from Oksibil to Jayapura on June 28, 2019. An Indonesian Army helicopter with the registration number M1-17V5 HA-5138 had lost contact and was found in Oksop District in early February, Bayu Suseno said as reported by antaranews.com.
One unidentified long-barreled black firearm labeled "NOVESKE" with a black scope was believed to have originated from Papua New Guinea (PNG) and was acquired by the Pegubin KKB in early 2022.
Hundreds of rounds of ammunition, thought to be linked to the Indonesian Army helicopter accident in the Oksibil-Jayapura flight and purchased in PNG, were confiscated during a clash with KKB in Modusit Village, Serambakon District, on Saturday (September 30).
Five members of the KKB from Kodap 35 Bintang Timur, led by Ananias Mimin, were killed during the clash. The identification process for these five KKB members has been ongoing, the spokesperson said.
