Inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur. A joint team of the Cianjur Prosecutor's Office, the Cianjur Sub-regional Police, and the Cianjur District Court in West Java have initiated roadblocks and vehicle inspections in border areas in a bid to re-arrest six detainees escaping after their trials.
Cianjur Police Chief Superintendent Aszhari Kurniawan confirmed that one escapee, Asep Gunawan, in Jamali Village, Mande District, has been re-arrested following a tip-off from locals.
"We're hunting down of the remaining six detainees, believed to be hiding within Cianjur. To limit their movements, we've implemented various measures, including border roadblocks," he said on Friday (29/03/24).
Patrols and roadblocks were set up in border areas such as Citarum, Gekbrong, and Puncak to prevent detainees from fleeing the city, with officers inspecting every suspicious vehicle.
Furthermore, coordination with nearby police precincts like Bogor, Sukabumi, and West Bandung was established to aid in the swift capture of the escapees.
"We're committed to promptly arresting the six escapees. Their identities and photos have been circulated, including on social media," Chief Aszhari said.
Seven detainees, who are facing charges for violent robbery and aggravated theft, fled after their trial at the Cianjur District Court on Monday evening. The escapees, were identified as UI, MRT, MAM, AG, RM, RP, and YAR, all residents of Cianjur.
One of the escapees, Asep Gunawan alias Haji alias AG, was re-arrested the following day while purchasing food in Jamali Village, Mande District, and taken to the Cianjur Police Station.
