Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. During a virtual address to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) from Jakarta, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has urged the ICJ to declare Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories as a whole illegal. "Israel must cease all actions and policies that violate the law in the Occupied Palestinian Territory entirely, unconditionally, and immediately," she said during the ICJ session held in The Hague on Friday. Minister Retno demanded that Israel, currently occupying Palestinian territories, promptly withdraw from the region. "The withdrawal of Israel must not be subject to preconditions or negotiations. They must withdraw now," she asserted. Minister Retno said that Israel's permanent occupation could never constitute a legitimate basis for claiming lawful rights over Palestinian territories. "In line with this, all countries and the United Nations must not recognize the illegal situation arising from Israel's violations of international law," Retno asserted. The Foreign Minister added that all countries and the UN must also ensure Israel's compliance with its obligations under international law. She reiterated that no country is above the law, and the principles of international law upheld by the ICJ must be respected. Minister Retno underscored that the international community must not allow Israel to manipulate the use of international law to justify its illegal actions against the basic rights of the Palestinian people.
