Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Forestry reported a significant decline in forest and land fire hotspots in 2025, down from 90.8 percent from the 29,341 hotspots detected at the peak of fires in 2019 to 2,705 hotspots nationwide in 2025.
“This achievement reflects strong cross-sector collaboration, improved governance, peatland restoration, and enhanced capacity of fire control units,” said Forestry Law Enforcement Director General Dwi Januanto Nugroho on Tuesday (13/1/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
According to official data, hotspot numbers also fell from 3,834 in 2024 and 10,675 in 2023. Monitoring through the SiPongi system showed burned land in 2025 reached 359,619 hectares, lower than 2024 and far below 2019 levels.
The ministry credited community participation, strengthened task forces, and expanded Manggala Agni operations for reducing fire risks across vulnerable regions.
