inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni and Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana are exploring strategic collaborations related to natural resource conservation, sustainable tourism development, and traveler safety, particularly at natural tourist destinations.
The Minister stated that this was in response to recent incidents and accidents on the Mount Rinjani hiking trail.
"(We) emphasize the importance of improving hiking management, including ranking the difficulty of hiking trails, implementing a quota system, and developing better climbing standard operating procedures (SOPs)," said Minister Raja on Tuesday (7/29/2025).
Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Widiyanti expressed her support for strengthening safety and risk management at tourist destinations.
"The incident at Rinjani is a reminder to all of us that cross-sector intervention is necessary. We will form a joint working team to improve safety standards at natural tourist destinations," said the Minister.
Furthermore, she emphasized the close relationship between the conservation sector and tourism development is key.
"Sustainable tourism is impossible without environmental protection. This synergy is crucial for the future of Indonesian tourism," said the Minister of Tourism.
The Ministers of Forestry and Tourism also agreed to follow up on the collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as the foundation for future collaborative programs.
The Minister of Forestry emphasized that the direction of Indonesia's natural tourism development must be based on the principles of ecotourism, not mass tourism.
