Four Ships Seized by Police for Fishing with Trawl Net in Asam-Asam Waters

inp.polri.go.id - Banjarmasin. The Directorate of Water and Air Police of the South Kalimantan Regional Police arrested four ships using trawl net. When the action was taken, it was discovered that the four ships came from Lamongan Regency, East Java.

"The perpetrators were fishing in the Asam-Asam Waters, Tanah Laut Regency," said the Director of the Water and Air Unit, Senior Superintendent Andi Adnan Syafruddin on Tuesday (3/4/2025).

He explained that the action against the cantrang ships began with information from local fishermen before finding the four ships fishing on Wednesday (19/2) using the trawl net.

From the inspection of four ships, he said, there were more than 23 tons of threadfin breams caught over three days at a distance of around 23 nautical miles in the Asam-Asam Waters. 

He detailed that the Malda Jaya I Fishing Ship caught around 3 tons of fish, the Mayang Sari II Fishing Ship found 17 tons of fish, the Utra Baru II Fishing Ship found 1.8 tons of fish and the Kurnia Tawakal Fishing Ship was loaded with 1.5 tons of fish.

"A total of 77 crew members were examined but investigators named eight suspects as the main perpetrators," he explained.
