inp.polri.go.id – Floods and landslides have occurred in various areas in Garut Regency on Friday night, July 15, 2022, at around 22.00 WIB. Due to the downpour that occurred on Friday afternoon to Saturday morning, rivers overflowed which caused flash floods. Because many houses were flooded with a height of about 3 to 4 meters, people have been evacuating to a safer places. However, because the flood came suddenly at night, many people unfortunately unable to evacuate to a safer place. In those desperate times, many peopel fled to the rooftop of their houses or on their 2nd floor, while waiting for help. To help those who were affected by flash floods and landslides, Garut Police Chief, AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, S.I.K., M.Sc., ordered all Garut Police to immediately help provide assistance to affected communities. These also includes the Sabhara Unit, led by AKP Yudiono SH. They immediately went to Cimacan Village, to evacuate those who were trapped by the flood. Head of the Sabhara Garut Police, AKP Yudiono, S.Sos., M.M. conveyed, that the evacuation must be carried out together and in collaboration with other agencies, such as the TNI, BPBD, Health Service, Fire Fighters, and other agencies, so that the process of assisting the community is optimized. "To optimize our assistance to the community, we are collaborating with other agencies, including the TNI, BPBD, Health Service, Fire Fighter, and other agencies," said AKP Yudiono after carrying out the evacuation. The main equipment used in this evacuation process is a rubber boat that is able to reach small alleys. Aiptu Buldan, as the team commander, conveyed that the evacuation process went smoothly. “Thank God we can evacuate many who got trapped by the flood and get them to a safer place,” said Aiptu Buldan. The Head of Sabhara Unit implores the people, especially those who lives near the river and areas prone to landslide to be always careful. “In facing this rainy season, we implore Garut people to be always careful and vigilant, this due to the areas prone to flood and landslides,” implores Head of Sabhara Unit.
