Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have officially halted the investigation into the death of Foreign Ministry diplomat Arya Daru Pangayunan after concluding that no criminal offense was found.

The decision was announced on Friday (9/1/2026) following a case review based on forensic examinations, witness statements, and evidence analysis.

“Based on the investigative findings, the case review found no indication of a criminal act,” Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto said, as quoted by antaranews.com

The probe was terminated through a formal notice issued by the Criminal Investigation Directorate on 6 January 2026, and delivered to the victim’s family. Police, however, stated the case could be reopened if credible new evidence emerges.

Arya Daru was found dead in his boarding house room in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on 8 July 2025. The circumstances initially raised public concern due to the controlled access system and unusual conditions at the scene.

The family’s legal counsel had previously urged police to conduct a formal case review.
