Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. A human trafficking suspect involved in forcing a Indonesian worker into prostitution in Malaysia is scheduled to be handed over to the Tangerang Prosecutor’s Office on Monday for trial at the Tangerang District Court.

The suspect, identified as IS (27) from Cikarang, Bekasi, and evidence were previously handed over by the Soekarno-Hatta Airport City Sub-regional to the Tangerang Prosecutor’s Office.

IS has been temporarily detained at Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police’s detention facility after being arrested along with an undocumented migrant worker, identified as SM, at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport on 13 June  2024.

"The suspect has been charged and remains in custody for further investigation," said Senior Inspector  Reza Fahlevi, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit.

The case was uncovered based on a tip-off about a non-procedural migrant worker heading to Malaysia.

IS faces charges under Article 10 jo. Article 4 of Law No. 21 of 2007 on Human Trafficking and/or Article 81 jo. Article 69 of Law No. 18 of 2017 on Migrant Worker Protection.
