inp.polri.go.id – A few days ago, the Head of the South Sulawesi Regional Police (Kapolda Sulsel), Inspector General Drs. Nana Sujana, M.M., visited Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi to attend several activities, one of which was an international shooting event. He was in Bumi Panrita Lopi (the nickname of Bulukumba Regency) for two days and within those two days, the illegal mines in Bulukumba stopped operating. However when the Two-Star General and his entourage returned to Makassar, the miners who were suspected of not having permits resumed their operations, said Trywahyudi, chairman of the NGO Asatu Bulukumba. "The illegal mine in Bulukumba only closes when Kapolda visited us, when Kapolda returns to Makassar the illegal mine is operating again. What's wrong with the Bulukumba Police, why are the miners only afraid of Kapolda," explained the head of the NGO, Asatu Bulukumba. One of them is in Anrang Village, Rilau Ale District, heavy equipment or excavators are seen operating to dredge material in the Balantieng River and then transported it using dump trucks. Likewise, in Swatani Village, Rilau Ale Sub-district, several alleged ilegal mines are extracting materials from the Balantieng River. The head of the NGO Asatu Bulukumba hopes that the National Police Chief and Kapolda Sulsel will immediately take action to stop illegal mining activities in Bulukumba in order to save the Balantieng river from illegal miners. “If we look at it, only Kapolda Sulsel or the National Police Chief can stop this illegal mining in Bulukumba and take action against them. In the near future, we also plan to held a rally in front of the Regional Police asking the Police Chief to handle illegal mining in Bulukumba and we will also write to the National Police Chief and the Regional Police Chief," explained the Head of the NGO Asatu Bulukumba.
