Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia and Singapore are drafting a new strategic roadmap to revitalize their partnership ahead of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono met with his Singaporean counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026) to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in sustainable energy, food security, and industrial development.

“This is not just a diplomatic anniversary. It is an opportunity to revitalize our partnership for the decade ahead and to design a new strategic direction for both our countries,” he said during a joint press briefing, as cited by antaranew.socm.

Key discussions included cross-border electricity projects and expanding agribusiness technology to ensure regional food stability. The two countries also plan to explore new sustainable industrial zones, building on the success of the Batam-Bintan-Karimun and Kendal regions. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to ASEAN centrality and emphasized the need for regional de-escalation amid global geopolitical tensions.
