inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to continue investment cooperation, especially in the digital economy, food and infrastructure sectors.
During the free time in the 2025 World Governments Summit series in Dubai on Wednesday (12/2/2025), Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with the Minister of Investment of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi.
This visit is a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto's visit to the UAE on November 23, 2024 which resulted in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing on gas cooperation with Mubadala Energy in the Andaman Sea.
In addition, the two parties have also begun exploring the possibility of investment from the UAE to Indonesia, through KEK, especially to build a data center ecosystem in Indonesia and infrastructure development through the National Strategic Project (PSN).
"The role of the UAE will be very important to help create a strong and reliable data center ecosystem in Indonesia, through investment in several Special Economic Zones (SEZ), such as the Nongsa Digital Park (NDP) SEZ in Batam," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga on Thursday (2/13/2025).
The NDP SEZ targets the development of data centers in Indonesia with an investment target of 400 Megawatts (MW) or worth 4 billion US dollars.
The NDP SEZ ecosystem is also focused on accommodating several projects related to the development of science and technology, such as semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI).
In addition to investment plans in the technology sector, Coordinating Minister Airlangga and Minister Mohamed also discussed plans to develop airport and port infrastructure, and touched on plans to build a Giant Sea Wall along the north coast of Java Island.
"The UAE's commitment to developing Indonesia's infrastructure is a form of cooperation that will have a direct impact on the lives of the wider community. We greatly appreciate the UAE's support for continuing several infrastructure projects in the PSN, and discussing plans to build the Giant Sea Wall," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga.
As a form of this commitment, Minister Mohamed, who also serves as CEO of Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), a Sovereign Wealth Fund based in Abu Dhabi, also expressed his interest in collaborating in developing brownfield projects.
