inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology is strengthening cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia in the field of higher education, especially in the relationship between vocational education and industry, digital technology, scholarships and lecturer exchanges.
Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Stella Christie appreciated the progress of vocational education in China which is well managed and directly connected to the industrial world.
According to her, this is a challenge to be developed optimally in Indonesia.
"All elements in the vocational education system in China are already closely related to industry. Indonesia can replicate this model, with the University to University to Business (U2U2B) system," said Vice Minister Stella, Tuesday (6/17/2025).
Stella also emphasized that this system can be implemented in the field of digital technology education, as a scope that has become increasingly crucial lately.
However, she highlighted that only around 24 percent of lecturers in Indonesia have doctoral degrees.
Therefore, providing scholarships for 50 Indonesians per year from Tsinghua University, China is one solution to further boost this number.
"This year, around 20 people were selected to study at Tsinghua University. We hope to continue to facilitate the process for the program and maximize the quota given in the following year," said Stella.
Welcoming this, the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong expressed his support for this program.
He also suggested an exchange program between Indonesian and Chinese lecturers to improve scientific and cultural understanding between the two parties.
