Foreign Ministry Closely Monitors Security Situation in Lebanon

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut have been closely monitoring the security situation in Lebanon following intensified clashes between Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon.

"The Foreign Ministry and the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut are keeping a close watch on the security situation in Lebanon," said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities (PWNI-BHI) at Kemlu RI, in a written statement on Wednesday (28/8/2029).

Since the weekend, there have been intensified airstrikes between Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon. As a result, several airlines, including Air France, Royal Jordanian Air, Ettihad, and Lufthansa, have canceled or limited flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut, as reported by antaranews.com.

As many as 20 Indonesian citizens have been repatriated after the security alert in Lebanon was raised to Level One in early August 2024, Currently, 145 WNI remain in Lebanon, with 11 located in southern regions like Shebaa, Nabatieh, Naqoura, and Tyre.

The government advises Indonesians planning to travel to Lebanon or Israel to postpone their trips until the situation stabilizes. Those residing in Lebanon are urged to follow the guidance provided by the Indonesian Embassy in Beirut.
