Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir said the government is ready to face a lawsuit filed by Israel’s gymnastics federation at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after the country revoked visas for Israeli athletes competing in the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta.

“We will face the lawsuit with honor,” he told reporters on Monday (13/10/2025), emphasizing that Indonesia’s decision was made in accordance with national policy and legal sovereignty.

The Israeli federation filed the case after its athletes were barred from entering Indonesia, effectively preventing them from joining the global competition. Minister Erick said the government is preparing a comprehensive legal response and will defend its position before CAS, as reported by antaranews.com

He reiterated Indonesia’s stance under President Prabowo Subianto, who has declared that Jakarta will not establish diplomatic ties with Israel until it recognizes a fully sovereign Palestinian state.
