inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government launched the National Action Plan for the Protection and Management of Blue Carbon Ecosystems (RENAKSI) 2025–2030 to strengthen Indonesia's contribution to climate change mitigation through mangrove and seagrass forests.
"This RENAKSI document aligns implementation strategies with funding instruments based on the principles of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI)," said Nani Hendiarti, Deputy for Coordination of Food Affordability and Security at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, on Friday (February 20, 2026).
The launch of RENAKSI affirms Indonesia's position as a country with approximately 17 percent of the world's blue carbon reserves, supported by 3.45 million hectares of mangrove forests and 660,000 hectares of seagrass meadows.
The development of RENAKSI was facilitated by the National Blue Carbon Action Partnership (NBCAP), coordinated by the Coordinating Ministry for Food, with Konservasi Indonesia serving as the secretariat for this multi-stakeholder partnership.
Nani stated that RENAKSI serves as a national benchmark for aligning blue carbon protection with an inclusive funding strategy. She stated that RENAKSI will be sharpened through cross-sector coordination to follow up on 21 action plans and develop them into priority programs with a direct impact on the community.
"This commitment will also be presented at the 2026 Ocean Impact Summit in Bali as part of strengthening national blue carbon governance," Nani added.
The British Embassy also expressed support for RENAKSI 2025–2030, viewing the document as a milestone for bilateral climate partnerships, particularly in supporting the achievement of Indonesia's 2030 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and FOLU Net Sink targets.
Meanwhile, the World Economic Forum (WEF) commended Indonesia's efforts and considered the Ocean Impact Summit in Bali a strategic opportunity to encourage green investment and blue economy development.
