Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The National Food Agency (Bapanas) Head and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman announced that Indonesia’s plan to implement a unified retail price cap (HET) for rice is aimed at lowering prices nationwide and ensuring affordability across regions.
“Our goal is to bring prices down so that people can be happy,” he said during a visit to the Agricultural Modernization and Assembly Center (BRMP) in Serpong, Banten, on Monday (3/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The minister explained that the government continues to monitor rice price stability through cross-sector coordination and market operations, which have proven effective in balancing supply and demand. Based on Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data, 23 provinces recorded rice price deflation, three were stable, and 12 experienced inflation.
Minister Amran added that special teams have been deployed to 51 regions where rice prices remain above the current HET. Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said the revised HET proposal is being prepared for President Prabowo Subianto’s approval.
