Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government will require Saudi employers to maintain salary deposits to ensure proper wage payments for Indonesian migrant workers.

The requirement will be formalized in a memorandum of understanding between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia as part of conditions for lifting the 2015 moratorium on Indonesian migrant workers placement., Minister of Migrant Worker Protection Abdul Kadir Karding said on Monday (17/3/2025).

“Every employer must hold a salary deposit and comply with labor dispute resolution mechanisms,” he said, explaining that the policy aims to enhance worker protection and reduce illegal migration, which currently reaches 25,000 cases annually. .

The agreement also mandates a minimum salary of 1,500 Riyals (around Rp6.5 million), insurance coverage, regulated work hours, and proper accommodations. Employers must be registered with Saudi Arabia’s state labor agency to qualify, as reported by antaranews.com.

Upon finalization, Indonesia plans to deploy 600,000 workers, including 400,000 domestic workers and 200,000 in formal sectors.
