Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Head of Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) of Washington DC Andang Purnama said Indonesians in the US would cast their vote on February 10th at the official house of the Indonesian Ambassador in Washington.
Andang states that the date has been agreed by PPLN of North America with the basis that most migrant workers have to go to work on February 14th.
“Most of them have to go to work, and it would be difficult for them to go to the polling station. Thus, the committee decided to hold the election on February 10th,” say Andang quoted from Antara on Wednesday (12/20/2023).
For the vote counting, North America PPLN have agreed to count the vote on February 14th at the Indonesian Ambassador Office in Washington DC.
In addition, Andang also reveals that there are 1,700 voters that will cast their vote on February 10th. The thousands of voters are Indonesian workers who resides in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Of the total 1,700 voters, 1,227 of them decided to come directly to the polling station to cast their vote, while the 473 others sent their ballot through mail.
“In here, voters could choose up to three options in casting their vote. They could come directly to the polling station, or they could send their ballot through mail, or vote with Mobile Ballot Box (KSK)," said Andang.
Moreover, PPLN will also prioritize the disabled, those who are sick, pregnant women, and senior citizens who require assistance.
