The Indonesian President Joko Widodo says the constructions of Jokowi Street and Jokowi Mosque in Abu Dhabi marks a strong relationship between Indonesia and United Arab Emirates (UAE). “We saw how strong our relationship as there are now Jokowi Street in Abu Dhabi while there is Mohammed bin Zayed Flyover in Indonesia. In Surakarta there is Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, while in Abu Dhabi there is Jokowi Mosque,” wrote Jokowi in his instagram post on Tuesday (12/26/2023). Jokowi adds the cooperation between Indonesia and UAE is getting stronger. “Indonesia and UAE have weaved official diplomatic relationship since 1876. The two nations are getting more intimate as all sectors such as economy, education, to leaders’ relationship are getting stronger,” said Jokowi. Jokowi announced that Jokowi Mosque, which began its construction in 2021, has completed in October 2023 and open for public on December 14th, 2023. The opening marks with the inauguration of the mosque by UAE Minister Infrastructure and Energy Suhail Al Mazroei, Head of General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Waqaf Omar Habtoor Al-Direi, Indonesian Ambassadro to the UAE, and several ASEAN Ambassadors. The Jokowi Mosque located in Abu Dhabi diplomatic area by crossing through Jokowi Street. The mosque was built in a land of 3,766 square meters and could accommodate up to 2,500 people. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
