Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian citizens were safe amid the recent flash floods that hit New York, United States, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Sunday (1/10/2023).
"The Indonesian Consultate General in New York had communicated with local authorities and the Indonesian community. Up to that point, Indonesian citizens were safe amid the flash floods," Judha Nugraha, the Director of the Protection of Indonesian Citiznes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in his statement.
The Consulate General had issued a warning to the Indonesian community to be cautious and always monitor information from local authorities.
In case of an emergency, Judha said that Indonesians could contact 911 and the KJRI New York hotline at +1 347 806 9279.
Flash floods struck New York City and its surroundings on Friday, paralyzing most of the activities and the public transportation services such as the subway, buses and airplanes.
New York State Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency in response to the heavy rain and floods in New York City, Hudson Valley, and Long Island.
