Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) will meet with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on October 28 in Lausanne, Switzerland, to discuss the implications of Indonesia’s visa denial for Israeli athletes.
KOI Indonesia President Raja Sapta Oktohari confirmed the meeting, saying it aims to provide a full explanation of Indonesia’s position and maintain constructive dialogue with the IOC.
“It’s important to meet directly so the IOC understands the full context of what’s happening in Indonesia,” he said on Saturday (25/10/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The IOC recently suspended all dialogue with Indonesia regarding future Olympic bids and international sporting events after the government refused to issue visas to Israeli gymnasts competing at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta.
Indonesia’s Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir defended the decision, citing national regulations and Indonesia’s constitutional duty to uphold global peace and public order amid ongoing Israel-Palestine tensions.
