Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Special Task Force of Corruption Prevention of Indonesian National Police (INP) held a seminar in preventing unlawful acts in illegal drilling.
A member of the special task force, Yudi Purnomo, says that one of the prevention efforts from INP is in collaboration with Directorate General of Oil and Gas, SKK Migas, and Pertamina Hulu Energi Inc. by holding Focus Group Discussion (FGD) of Formulating a Policy for Illegal Drilling Handling. The FGD was held at The Westin Jakarta.
“This is the second FGD which serves as the continuity of the first FGD which was held in Palembang last July,” he said in his written statement on Friday (9/29/2023).
It was said that from the first FGD, related stakeholders have gained many information regarding the problems and the effort in overcoming them. The first FGD proved to be successful as the authorities have carried out the plans in overcoming the problems.
“One of the many problems in illegal drilling is that there is no comprehensive law or regulations in handling community oil wells without permit or without valid contractual obligations,” explained Yudi.
The second FGD was then held with the aim of presenting solutions to improve policy, governance, and community empowerment in handling illegal drilling. The FGD was aimed to gain any suggestions and recommendations about various comprehensive alternative solutions in handling illegal mining, both in repressive or preventive.
It is expected that the second FGD results would then be processed by Directorate General of Oil and Gas to be made as a draft regulation that are in line with the various interests of the relevant parties.
Iguh Sipurba, as the Head of Special Task Force of Corruption Prevention hoped that the comprehensive draft regulation of oil and gas management could be then processed by relevant stakeholders intensively. In this way, it can become an official regulation and can be immediately implemented by relevant stakeholders to overcome oil and gas problem, along with suppress or prevent any potential corruption.
“Special Task Force of Corruption Prevention of INP will always stands ready in supporting and helping relevant stakeholders in improving efficiency and effectivity of oil and gas business governance, especially in the upstream sector, on an ongoing basis for the interests of the Indonesia and its people," he said.
