Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) engaged civil society groups on Monday (29/9/2025) to discuss their handling of protests in late August 2025.
The dialogue, held at the Police Science College (PTIK) in South Jakarta, brought together rights organizations including YLBHI, KontraS, Amnesty International Indonesia, PBHI, ICJR, and Imparsial, as well as political analyst Rocky Gerung and philosopher Franz Magnis-Suseno.
“We see this as an opportunity to hear directly from civil society about expectations of the police institution,” said INP Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, as quoted by antaranews.com.
YLBHI chair Muhammad Isnur urged Polri to release detained democracy activists and reform its approach to respect civil rights. ICJR researcher Iftitah Sari added that protests should not be met with arrests and detention, which foster fear among citizens.
Chief Sigit expressed gratitude for the input, promising reforms aligned with modern challenges.
