Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) said the repatriation of former Investree CEO Adrian Asharyanto Gunadi from Qatar took time because he held permanent residency in Doha.
Adrian, accused of raising Rp2.7 trillion ($166 million) illegally, fled to Qatar on 14 February 2024 after being declared a fugitive by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
“The delay occurred because he had permanent resident status in Doha,” said Brig. Gen. Untung Widyatmoko, the Secretary of National Central Board (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia, in a press briefing at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Friday (26/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He said extradition would have taken up to eight years through government-to-government channels, so the INP opted for faster police-to-police cooperation. The breakthrough came during the Interpol Asia Regional Conference in Singapore, where Indonesian officials secured support from Qatar. Adrian was later detained and flown back to Jakarta.
Authorities allege Adrian used shell companies to illegally raise funds under Investree’s name and diverted part of the money for personal use. He now remains in OJK custody pending trial.
