Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) have named 28 suspects in cases involving the production and distribution of rice that failed to meet quality standards stated on packaging.
“Twenty-five cases have been processed, with 28 suspects in total, mostly linked to rice production operations,” Brigadier General Helfi Assegaf, the Head of the INP Food Task Force and Director of Special Economic Crimes, said during a public discussion at the Ombudsman’s Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (26/8/2025)
He stressed that law enforcement is not aimed at targeting producers arbitrarily but at ensuring compliance with quality standards.
“We do not want the number of suspects to increase. This enforcement should deter businesses from repeating such practices,” Chief Helfi added, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Investigations revealed evidence dating back to February 2025, though Chief Helfi declined to speculate whether the practice had occurred earlier. He urged producers and distributors to align their products with proper labeling and composition.
