Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has reinforced its zero-tolerance policy against any form of vigilantism and violence, instructing all personnel to take firm action against such behavior.
“We urge everyone to maintain public order by respecting differences of opinion,” said Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, the INP Public Relations Division Chief of the Public Information Bureau, on Monday (30/9/2014).
He emphasized that police units across the country are expected to swiftly address any vigilante activities to ensure public safety and security.
“The INP will continue enforcing zero tolerance against any form of vigilantism or anarchic actions,” Chief Trunoyudo said.
He also confirmed that police had recently arrested two men for disrupting a public discussion event in Kemang, South Jakarta.
Chief Trunoyudo called on the public to support a peaceful environment, noting that freedom of expression is a basic human right protected by the Indonesian constitution.
“Freedom of association, assembly, and expression are guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution,” he said, highlighting the need for mutual respect and understanding in expressing opinions.
