Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) on Friday (26/12/2025) repatriated nine Indonesian citizens who were victims of human trafficking in Cambodia after being lured with false job offers as computer operators promising a monthly salary of Rp 9 million.
“One common modus was offering work as a computer operator, but upon arrival the victims were forced to become online scammers,” said Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, the Director of Specific Crimes at Polri’s Criminal Investigation Agency, during a press conference, as reported by antaranews.com
The case emerged after family reports on 8 December 2025, and viral pleas on social media. Recruiters arranged passports, visas, and flights, but confiscated the victims’ documents upon arrival in Phnom Penh and transported them for hours to scam facilities.
Victims who failed to meet targets were subjected to physical and psychological abuse. The nine victims, consisting of three women and six men from several provinces, escaped and sought refuge at the Indonesian Embassy before being flown home on Friday. The INP is pursuing recruiters, supervisors, and foreign bosses behind the network.
