inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) has reaffirmed its prohibition on all members from live streaming on social media while on duty. This policy is part of an effort to maintain professionalism and the institution's image in the public sphere.
The Head of INP Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, explained that this policy aims to encourage all personnel to be more judicious in their use of social media.
"This affirmation is intended to raise collective awareness so that police members use social media wisely, while simultaneously maintaining and improving the institution's image, credibility, and reputation in a responsible, professional, proportional, and procedural manner," said Johnny in a statement in Jakarta (5/4/2026).
He added that this policy also refers to Telegram Letter Number STR/1517/VI/WAS.2/2024, which serves as the basis for strengthening oversight of personnel activities in the digital space, particularly while carrying out official duties.
Furthermore, all police members are required to uphold the regulations stipulated in INP Regulation Number 7 of 2022 and Government Regulation Number 2 of 2003 concerning member discipline.
Both regulations emphasize the importance of ethics, responsibility, and professionalism in all actions, including on social media.
Furthermore, Inspector General Johnny emphasized that the use of social media is still permitted, but must be directed towards public relations purposes and under the coordination of INP's Public Relations function.
"Social media can be utilized positively to support the performance and productivity of INP, particularly in the public relations function. However, its use must be coordinated and not used haphazardly by members while on duty," he explained.
With this policy, INP hopes that all personnel will be more disciplined and responsible in their use of social media, thereby maintaining public trust in the institution.
