Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Police has uncovered drug smuggling in Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). The uncovering began with police discoveries after cyber unit patrols in social media.
INP Criminal Investigation Police Chief, Commissioner General Wahyu Widada reveals that the investigation team have patrolled in social media. Moreover, on Thursday, police have uncovered and thwarted the smuggling in Cimanggis, Depok, West Java.
“We found the evidence of happy water and banana crackers. From the total evidence we confiscated, there are 426 packages of banana crackers in various sizes and 2,022 bottles of happy water. There are also 10 kilograms of drugs raw material,” says Wahyu in conference press on Friday (11/3/2023).
During the operation, police has arrested three suspects in Depok who are the account owner, the bank account owner, and the seller.
After further investigating the case, police came to arrest another suspects in three different locations, in Kaliaking Magelang, Potorono, and Banguntapan in Bantul Regency. One of the locations is the banana crackers production house.
“Then we arrest the other two in Kaliaking, Magelang where the banana crackers productions were. Then we arrest another two suspects in Potorono who produce happy water and banana crackers, while the other suspect was arrested in Banguntapan,” he said.
From the three different locations, police arrested MAP as the social media admin; D as the one who manages the bank account; AS as the one who get the products and the one who guards the warehouse; BS as the cook; EH as the cook and the distributor; MRE as the cook; AR as the cook; and R as the cook also.
He firmly stated that wars on drugs must be intensified and also in harmony as effort to completely eradicate it. This effort must also be implemented down to sub-regional police ranks.
“As was ordered by the President, drug eradication efforts must be carried out intensively, boldly, comprehensively, and in harmony,” says Wahyu, after saying this has also been ordered by INP Chief.
“INP Criminal Investigation Unit and all ranks in Regional Police have formed Drug Eradication Task Force, where it has been formed around one month ago with promising progress,” explains Wahyu.
According to INP data, most of drugs user are those who are still in their youths, which are concerning and could cause the development of the state halted.
