inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. Riau Regional Police and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Riau have successfully uncovered an international drug ring.
Riau Regional Police in a press conference led by the police chief, Inspector General Muhammad Iqbal, reveals that police have secured evidence of 53.6 kg of meth and 49,682 ecstasy pills.
Of the total drugs evidence, police estimated to have saved a total of 317,000 lives from the danger of drugs.
“This uncovering is thanks to the solid cooperation of our team in busting out drugs operations,” said Muhammad Iqbal on Tuesday (1/14/2025).
The suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
"The threat of punishment for them is the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years in prison," he added.
Iqbal explained that this disclosure began with information from the public about the shipment of large quantities of narcotics from Bengkalis to Pekanbaru. On Thursday, January 9th, 2025, police and BNN deployed a team and conducted an investigation and mapped the location.
Through the investigation, the team found the target who used a white Wuling car on Buatan-Siak street.
At around 13.30 pm, the car stopped at a restaurant in Lubuk Dalam District, Siak Regency. Three perpetrators, namely ES (35), SAP (30), and S (31), were immediately apprehended at the location.
From the results of the search, 54 large packages of crystal methamphetamine and 20 large packages of ecstasy pills were found.
From the initial interrogation, the three suspects admitted to receiving narcotics from someone with the initials I. The goods were planned to be handed over to a man named SH (35).
In the controlled delivery operation, the transaction was carried out at the Al-Muttaqin Grand Mosque, Pangkalan Kerinci.
The team then managed to arrest SH along with evidence. The perpetrator admitted that he was ordered by IW, who is still on the run, to pick up the narcotics
This disclosure is real evidence of the Riau Regional Police's commitment to eradicating the drugs circulation in the province
