inp.polri.go.id - Lembata. The Lembata Sub-regional Police, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police, have successfully uncovered 10 cases of theft that occurred in eight different locations in Lembata Regency. This success demonstrates police's commitment to maintaining public order and security.
The disclosure of these cases was officially announced by Lembata Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Nanang Wahyudi, in a press release on Wednesday (1/21/2026).
"Of the 10 cases uncovered, the perpetrators carried out their actions in eight different locations, including Waowala Village and Beutaran Village in Ile Ape District, South Lewoleba, Kota Baru, Komak, Pada Village, Lusikawak Village in Nubatukan District, and the Lewoleba Seaport area," explained Nanang.
Nanang Wahyudi added that the majority of the thefts occurred at people’s homes and kiosks, with the incidents occurring predominantly in the early hours of the morning. The losses suffered by the victims varied, ranging from IDR 1.6 million to IDR 20 million.
In the investigation, police secured 26 pieces of evidence.
"We secured 26 pieces of evidence, including several mobile phones of various brands, laptops, speakers, chargers, woven fabrics, cigarette display cases, jewelry, and four motorcycles: a Honda Beat, Vixion, Revo, and Suzuki Nex," explained the Police Chief.
In addition, police also recorded five items found whose owners remain unknown: an Acer laptop, an iPhone, an Oppo cellphone, a Samsung charger, a backpack, and woven fabric.
Nanang also revealed that in all these cases, the majority of the alleged perpetrators are teenagers, ranging in age from 16 to 19.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Lembata Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Muhammad Ciputra, emphasized that the entire case handling process was carried out in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
"The case is being handled in accordance with the law, while upholding the principle of the presumption of innocence," Ciputra emphasized.
He also urged the public to be more vigilant and immediately report any theft to the police if they witness or experience any criminal activity.
