inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that Islamic boarding schools with more than 1,000 students can establish a Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) kitchen as an effort to accelerate the expansion of beneficiaries.
"Islamic boarding schools can submit applications to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), and then the BGN will establish an independent kitchen at the Islamic boarding school in question," said Vice Minister of Religious Affairs Romo Muhamad Syafi'i, Monday (5/11/2026).
Syafi’i explained that Islamic boarding schools that plan to establish SPPGs can receive capital injections from the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara), provided they meet the requirements for establishing SPPGs.
As for kitchens, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the BGN will not require them to be built like the usual SPPG unit. Instead, they will be adapted to the conditions at the Islamic boarding school.
"We have also reached an agreement that it will be adaptive to the situation at the Islamic boarding school. So, it doesn't have to be exactly like the prototype set by the BGN," explained Syafi’i.
He added that flexibility will also be provided in the school distributing the food.
Syafi’i stated that current regulations allow educational institutions to be both beneficiaries and managers of SPPG. However, the government will update the technical guidelines to give Islamic boarding schools more clearly the authority to establish independent kitchens.
