Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta administration has officially enforced a regulation banning the sale and slaughter of dog and cat meat for human consumption that the policy took effect on Monday. Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo confirmed on Tuesday (25/11/2025).
“This regulation has officially come into force as of 24 November 2025,” he said in a video statement on his official Instagram account, as reported by antaranews.com
Under Governor Regulation (Pergub) No. 36/2025, Articles 27 point A and Article 27 point B prohibit the trade and killing of rabies-transmitting animals for food, including dogs, cats, monkeys, bats, civets, and similar species.
The rules apply to live animals, raw meat, and processed products. Violators will first receive written warnings, followed by animal seizure, business closure, and eventual license revocation for repeated offenses.
The government says the ban aims to protect public health and reduce rabies risks in the capital.
